I’m Jonathan.
Faith & Valor is for people and about people.
I’ve been studying people since I was a kid. I’ve studied people academically and for fun. I’ve studied people in groups and people in solitude. I’ve learned from good people and people not yet whole. Books are written about those that lead from the front and stories are told about those that lead from the back. Those are my favorite books.
Faith & Valor started out of a need to marry the needs of leaders (people) with the needs of the organizations (lots of people) they serve.
See, I grew up in the home of a pastor and a teacher, watching people navigate life at its worst moments and also watching life’s highlights with great ceremony. Then I went to work in Corporate America consulting on IT implementations in call centers, getting yelled at about cell phone bills. That reality could not have been further from the heart of people found in my childhood.
Faith & Valor exists to help leaders raise the bar on what they do with who they are. At times, the work is to adapt and adjust organizations and how they operate in order to allow people to do their best work. Sometimes, the work is to facilitate a new direction or to bring clarity to existing direction. And sometimes still, the work is helping leaders raise the bar of their own performance.
It’s all about helping people bring their best voice to the world.
Leaders are people too.
I believe in people and that collectively we can achieve more than we can individually. I believe that everything rises and falls on leadership. I studied organizational psychology and communication in college, applying my learnings in the nonprofit sector. I studied Nonprofit Management in grad school, learning how to do good work at scale. After grad school, I went to work with Accenture, a global IT & Management consultancy. I learned a lot about how the world works. After a few years, I took a job with Slalom Consulting where I started and led the human capital team in Atlanta. I had the privilege of working with global clients helping them with Organizational Design, Organizational Change Management, Learning Strategy and Executive Coaching. I worked with companies that were public and private, big and small, for-profit, government and non-profits across a number of industries. It was fun. Now, I do this. I help leaders and organizations do good work well. Most importantly, I 'married up' when I found Leslie Anne. Together, we steward four children.
